Syfy renews #12Monkeys for Third Season

Great news to us fans of 12 Monkeys!!!

Entertainment Weekly has learned exclusively that 12 Monkeys has been renewed for a third season. The third season will contain 10 episodes. 

Based on the 1995 film of the same name, the SyFy series follows weary time traveler James Cole (Aaron Standford) and virologist Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) as they attempt to save the world from the Army of the 12 Moneys, who release a plague that kills off most of humanity. 

The show's currently in it's second season and gaining critical acclaim all around the boards. The show has moved past the plague storyline and dived deeper into the true backstory of the Army and to destroy time by killing off Primaries under orders from the Witness. 

The show also stars Barbara Sukowa, Kirk Acevedo, Tood Stashwick and Emily Hampshire, who's been getting outstanding reviews for her performance as Jennifer Gomnes. The show is shipped from executive producers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett.

"Syfy and UCP (Universal Cable Production) have been incredible creative partners, and I'm thrilled that we are going to tell the next-even more twisty and emotional -chapter of this time travel adventure," Matalas tells EW.

The third season will debut in 2017.

12 Monkeys will return Monday, July 11 with new episodes at 9/8c.
