"Lawanda: The Book of Burial"
When the town Reverend plans to peaceful march to stop the 100 gang from killing again after Lawanda's death, Jefferson tries to do all he can to prevent the march from happening But when that plan doesn't go, he has them go on a detour so he could watch and protect the marchers.
When Jefferson sees someone coming out of the alley with a gun, he jumps into action and stops the man from shooting and shocks him, along with another one who was charging up. Just as things were okay, the march was about to go on til Tobias, who's trying to stop on the orders of Lady Eve, sees what's happened along with that Black Lightning is still alive and shoots but hits the Reverend through and through and even its Khalil too.
With the Reverend doing well, it's Khalil, who won't be as the bullet hit his spinal cord making him not able to walk.
Meanwhile, Anissa tries out her powers, training at the garbage lot and filming it. Later as she researches about genetic mutation, she meets with Grace Choi and soon they seem it hit it off as friends.
I thought that this episode was very good from the beginning to the end. The episode was enough to keep me interested. I thought the performances from the cast was good, each playing equal amount. I've enjoying Anissa's story arch so far learning her powers and trying to figure out understanding how. Also, it is a nice throwback to the comic "The Outsiders" was very good when talking to Grace. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.
After a student almost overdose on a drug called Green Light, Jefferson must not only deal with the school politics of keeping that student at the school but also figure out where Green Light is coming in general.
With a new drug in a town called Green Light, Jefferson gets a first look when one of his students takes in and goes all Hercules and tries to take him down. He gets Giambi to look into it that he also looks into a suspect that happened to die overdosing on the drug. But Jefferson gets a name from one supplier that happens to be an old friend, Two Bits.
When Jefferson meets with Two Bits, he does as himself, but with no straight answer, he came back as Black Lightning and got him to talk about where the drug is supplied and shipped at a warehouse. As he heads to the warehouse, what appears to be an explosion not too far is heard that happens to be from Anissa, who's used her powers against a couple of men earlier, saves Grace from a group of men. But only Gambi saw from the camera view and doesn't tell Jefferson about it.
Meanwhile, Lady Eve is getting impatient with Tobias, who says he killed Black Lightning goes to the doctor that said he died, but apparently it wasn't right. Tobias has Joey Toledo to kill the doctor and soon gets his sister, Toni to come and help take down Black Lightning with a plan in mind. They plan to use and get Khalil, who just learned that he would never walk again as the bullet that hit him damaged his spinal cord severely, to tell that it was Black Lightning's fault.
This was a terrific episode that had thrills and suspense at times, but also the humor mostly coming in that scene when Black Lightning talks with Two Bits. After telling Black Lightning what he knows he tries to ask for a selfie with him and if he could light up but instead gets an exciting knockout. The episode kind of separates from the previous episodes just a bit with a storyline of a new drug. Week after week I'm just amazed at the show, and how developed these characters are from beginning to now.
Overall, I give this episode an 8.5/10.
You can catch Black Lightning Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
