Sunday night's episode declared once again why Game of Thrones is HBO's number one show for a reason; its dynamic battle sequences, its powerful message and... Dracarys...
The Spoils of War opened up smooth, slow and welcoming. The Lannister Guard was on the way back to King's Landing with the gold requested from the Iron Bank. Bronn gives Jamie some tasteful words before Jamie gives him a sack of gold, saying the Lannister's most famous saying; "A Lannister always repays their debts." The Lord of the Iron Bank gives Cersei praise for the first ever debt payment of it's size. She tells him that her focus is on one single task; securing the continent. He tells her that she has the Iron Bank backing her once the gold arrives.
In the next scene, Lord Baelish is seen meeting with Bran. He gifts him the sword that was meant to kill him some time back when his mother saved him. Petyr says that he would have stopped his mother's death if he were there. But, he's there for Bran now. Bran asks if he knew who owned the blade. Baelish says no, however he knows that's how the War of the 5 Kings began. Bran says it made him who he is today. Nyra comes in and Baelish leaves. Bran says she's leaving. She says yes, for her family. Bran thanks her for what she's done for him but she isn't happy because she lost her brother and Hodor in the process. When he doesn't respond, she calls his name and he says to her, "I'm not really, not anymore. But I remember being Brandon Stark," Nyra tells him, "You died in the cave,"
Arya reaches the top of a snowy peak and looks down at Winterfell. She's now walking on foot to the entrance when two guards stop her. When she presents herself, she says Arya Stark is dead and the Lady of Winterfell is far too busy to deal with imposters. Many times the guards tell her to "Fuck Off," The fat guard goes to push her and she sidesteps. After a few choice words that can be backed up, they bring her in while they decide who gets to watch her and who gets to retrieve Sansa. Well, Arya disappears so when they tell Sansa, she isn't worried. She knows where Arya is so she goes and gets her. They embrace. Arya tells Sansa she needs better guards. Sansa says she wants Jon to return home soon so he can see Arya. Arya asked if Sansa was Joffrey's killer. Sansa says she wishes, but no. Arya tells Sansa that he was always at the top of her "kill list" no matter how long it got. Sansa laughs then asks how Arya got back to Winterfell. They both agree their roads were long and daunting but their stories aren't over. Sansa tells Arya that Bran is home, too. Bran is sitting by the weirwood tree. Arya hugs him and his reaction is practically identical to his and Sansa's meeting. But before she hugged him, he said, "you came home." Sansa explains that Bran has "visions." Bran tells Arya that he saw her headed to King's Landing on a mission to knock Cersei off of her 'kill list'. Sansa asks who else was on her list. She says that most are already dead. Arya asks where Bran got the blade, he says little Finger gave it to him. Sansa says he wouldn't give him a gift and not expect a return on it. Bran says he doesn't want it and gives it to Arya.
Lady Brienne and Podrick spar when Arya enters. She tells Podrick that his first mistake was fighting someone like Brienne. She decides to fight Brienne. Sansa and Baelish watch. She and Arya spar back and forth, Brienne believing she won because Needle was knocked from Arya's hand. But, Arya pulls the blade from her waistband and places it at the base of Brienne's neck. When she turned around, Baelish was watching intently and Sansa was amazed.
As Davos and Jon walk, they meet up with Missandei. As they talk about, a Greyjoy ship is spotted. They rush to the shore as Theon and a handful of his men land on Dragonstone soil. Jon is surprised to see Theon. Jon grabbed a hold of his collar and tells him that the only reason he didn't kill him then and there was because of what he did for Sansa. Theon says he should be dead and that Euron took Yara.
The Lannister Army is almost back to King's Landing when they decide to set up repair camp for the damaged carts and rest up for the evening. Bronn and Jamie are talking with a young knight when Bronn hears something unsettling...the sound of thousands of Dothraki soldiers come parading in. The Lannister Guard forms a wall but there's something else coming...Daenerys and Drogon! Daenerys says "Dracarys" and Drogon spits fire...literally. He blows up the first wall. Bronn tells Jamie to go to King's Landing but he refuses. The fight is on. The Dothraki attacks, then the Lannister Guard fights back. Drogon lights up everything in sight. Bronn runs to the Scorpion and arms it as Daenerys and Drogon. His first shot, the arrow missed but the second arrow plants deep within the dragon's shoulder. Drogon ignites the giant crossbow then lands. Tyrion spots Jamie. He whispers for him to flee. But Jamie charged Daenerys and Tyrion calls him a fucking idiot. As Jamie gains on Daenerys who is grounded pulling the arrow from the wounded shoulder of Drogon, Jamie raises a spear. But Drogon sees him and prepares to light Jamie on fire when someone knocks him into the river, sinking slowly to the bottom...
