From trying to keep cool for their parents to learn that coupons aren't great as gifts to that DNA testing sucks. Life in Pieces makes another good episode this week.
There were a lot of hits and only miss in this week's episode of Life in Pieces. From Jen's Parents visiting for a while gets Jen and Greg to tag team so none of them would go crazy. But it turns out that causing the tag them got them to stay a while longer because they think that they're marriage is in jeopardy.
While learning about a family story, Joan and Sophie do a family DNA testing. They learn that the family member that Joan considers to have the greatest love story ever told happens to be sham when a great uncle married her niece when she was a baby, who happens to be the person she was talking about. This was probably one of the funniest stories in the episode.
Matt gives Colleen her birthday gift of coupons of what he could do to help her. But instead of complaining about them, she puts them to good use and gives Matt the total runaround of chores to do. The episode ends with Matt learning a lesson that coupons are the worst birthday gift and Colleen gives Joan her coupon for Matt to do the dishes in a French maid outfit.
The last story might be the one that missed in this episode but was still funny. At Sam's poem night at school, Tim and Heather try to give her space while Heather reunites with a high school crush that's playing. Tim gets jealous, and Heather is upset, and the two act like total teens and seek advice from Sam and her date. But Tim makes her move and wins her over and dance the night away very awkwardly.
"Parents Ancestry Coupon Chaperone" was another well-written episode and well performed, mostly Dianne Wiest, who's Joan stole the episode in the family history and the coupon use on Matt. Colin Hanks and Zoe Lister-Jones was funny as usual. Overall, I give this episode an 8/10.
