A young woman runs across a deserted parking lot to a muscle car, which she has to unlock with an actual key rather than a key fob, while on the phone with 9-1-1, screaming "he's gonna kill me!"
Cut to Luxe, where Lucifer is throwing a hump day party (pun intended). A cute young woman distracts Lucifer from a serious conversation with Maze about Lucifer trying to escape his emotions about the Sinner Man gouging his eyes out and escaping Lucifer's thrall.
The Sinner Man has organized another murder to secure his escape. The victim, the muscle mentioned above car driver, is shown on a video sent to the Sinner Man's phone in the evidence lab at the police station.
Lucifer suggests that they let the SinnernMan go and track him to the victim, Maggie before her abductor kills her. Since that is out of the question according to everyone at the station, Det. Decker does some good old fashioned detective work. She recognizes a pin from a local roller rink, aptly named "The Sin Bin," where Maggie aka "The Slayer" skates in roller derbies and had a falling out with roller derby frenemy "Helena Handbasket." While attempting to question Helena, she tries to escape, causing Lucifer, thinking fast, to grab a beer and throw it in front of Helena as she skated past. After they question her, Det. Decker and Lucifer find out that she had nothing to do with Maggie/"The Slayer's" kidnapping.
While at the coffee shop on a lunch break (after a personal incident leaves Trixie without a babysitter, at work with her Dad), the pair runs into Charlotte, who offers to watch Trixie for the remainder of the day. Trixie and Charlotte have an in-depth conversation, which leads Charlotte to some helpful conclusions about her relationship with both Dan and her kids. It turns out Trixie's a dab hand at therapy!
After an attempt to look for evidence in Maggie's car goes very wrong, Det. Decker decides to do things Lucifer's way. Lucifer and Chloe construct an elaborate plan to break out the Sinner Man, who leads him to the victim. The Lieutenant outsmarts them and joins them in their endeavor. Unfortunately, it appears that the Sinner Man and his apparent hidden partner have absconded with Lucifer. Chloe later confesses to Det. Espinoza that she planted a bomb at his desk to distract the police from her and Lucifer to break out Sinner Man.
It turns out that Lucifer has kidnapped the Sinner Man to question him about how he got rid of Lucifer's Devil Face and restored his wings. As he questions the Sinnerman at one of his lesser-known properties, Lucifer gets nowhere. Fortunately for him and quite unfortunately for the Sinner Man, Maze shows up. Lucifer, of course, aptly introduces Maze as "hell's most brutal torturer." I don't know about you, faithful readers, but that would make me lose my lunch and probably cough up whatever they wanted me to
Back in the ambulance, Maggie/"The Slayer" confesses to asking a man who came to her to grant her a favor to take out one of her roller derby rivals. When said rival got into a car accident, Maggie realized this guy wasn't fooling and became contrite--albeit, a bit too late. The same person who ostensibly arranged for her rival's untimely accident came for her, leaving her in the river rapids in the hills of L.A. to drown.
Maze finds that the Sinner Man is human. He won't, however, answer her questions. Lucifer suggests that killing the Sinner Man, despite the fact that angels are not allowed to kill humans. Lucifer suggests to Maze that by killing a human who was ostensibly sent to do God's bidding (by...Killing people? Wow...), he will lose his wings and get his Devil Face back. Det. Decker and the Lieutenant are in a race against time to get to Lucifer's L.A. Hills house before he kills the Sinner Man. Lucifer decides to feed the Sinner Man before he kills him because he isn't fun enough while he's starving. As the Sinner Man becomes aware that Lucifer isn't going to kill him, he taunts Lucifer, telling him he's a coward. The Detective and the Lieutenant creep up the stairs to stop Lucifer as the Sinner Man taunts Lucifer. Apparently, the Sinnerman's true desire is to die. That was the plan all along. As it appears the Sinner Man is assaulting Lucifer with a knife (he's not), the Lieutenant shoots him before he can fully confess to Lucifer. Hmm...something smells fishy here. Lieutenant Pearce coldly remarks that "it's the only way it could end." Lucifer has become aware that there is something amiss and because she is so angry and feeling so betrayed by Lucifer, Chloe cannot see this. Ella helps Lucifer to look through the evidence lab, not knowing or caring what he is looking for. The Lieutenant snaps off on sweet Ella while she's rambling at him, while Lucifer is alone in the crime lab, looking at pictures. He has discovered that Pearce's "brother" was killed by the Sinner Man.
Lucifer calls Pearce to Luxe later on that evening for a one-on-one. Lucifer has discovered that Pearce is an immortal, stabbing him directly in the chest and waiting for him to get back up. Pearce was the Sinner Man's accomplice, raising the Sinner Man from a young age. Lieutenant Pearce is Cain. The two have a heart to heart over drinks.
