Crowley catches a big lead on Lucifer's newest vessel. It seems he's set his sights higher and higher, no longer content with whatever vessel he comes across. Now he's got ahold of the President of the United States. Ol' Lucy is having the time of his life trying to assimilate himself into such a high-profile position, but he still finds the time to warn his security teen that two flannel-wearing cult members think he is Satan and will likely try to assassinate him.
Sam and Dean are trying to find a way to get to him behind his huge wall of security when Castiel catches something huge from the Angel Radio. A Nephilim, the abomination born from the union of a human and an angel has been conceived, and it's incredibly powerful. The Winchesters along with Crowley, Cas, and Rowena decide that the best way to draw Lucifer out is to use his impregnated mistress.
But before they can even reach the city where the President is currently staying, a secret service car pulls them over. Sam and Dean try to get themselves out of it, but the men are to well prepared. Enter Mr. Catch, British Men of Letters with an automatic rifle and a grenade launcher to save the day.
Mr. Catch again offers to team up with the Winchesters to eradicate all of the monsters in America. But instead of torture techniques, he offers up technology that employs sorcery to more effectively fight monsters. One little gadget is even able to force a demon out of a host body. He also has a convenient counterpart for that particular weapon that can force an angel out of a host. He lends it to the Winchesters as a gesture of faith and the team gets down to work.
Crowley is sent into the compound to retrieve Lucifer's mistress. They bring her to their hotel room and explain everything that's going on. She agrees to help them, so she places a call to Lucifer, who mobilizes his team and comes right the hotel, where he leaves behind him guards and goes inside. But the team is waiting for him. They use the device given to them by Mr. Catch to pull Lucifer out of his vessel, leaving the President unharmed. But that's not how the Secret Service is seeing it.
Cas escapes with the mistress carrying a Nephilim but the WInchesters don't manage to make it out before the Secret Service charges in. They are arrested for attempted assassination. Meanwhile, the mistress decides that she wants to continue to carry her child to term and escapes from Cas. And so ends the episode.
I think we can all agree that the official introduction of Mr. Catch was pretty epic. He looks like he's going to be quite a lot of fun to have around in future episodes as either an ally or an enemy. It feels like he could go either way at this point, although it's more likely that the Winchester's won't really like his methods. On the other hand, having Lucifer possess the President for only most of one seems a little short lived. There were so many possibilities that could have come out of this. It was far too easy for the Winchesters to get to him. I would've enjoyed seeing this stretch out for a few more episodes, or at least I would've liked something to go more wrong in their plan. This isn't the first time that we've seen the Winchesters behind bars, so it's hard to really believe that they might stay there for any length of time. However, it'll be really interesting to see what sort of role Mr. Catch might play in their escape or release. What do you guys think? Leave your comments below!
