This week on the Flash, a mysterious villain form the far future arrives in Central City to steel tech from the various companies. Known only as Abra Kadabra, this villain uses future tech to sell his magician persona. When the team first encounters him they are easily defeated. But, when Gypsy shows up, bent on taking Kadabra back to Earth 19, the team begins to ask questions.

Gypsy reveals that Kadabra travelled to Earth 19 a killed a bunch of people before escaping. The team suspects that this wasn't the whole story. Kadabra attacks Star Labs and is captured by the Flash. Trying to save himself, Kadabra offers Barry a deal. If Barry lets him go, he'll reveal Savitar's identity. Barry locks KAdabra in the pipeline and a rift builds between Gypsy and the team as she wants Kadabra executed as soon as possible.

When Cisco asks why she is so bent on Kadabra's death, Gypsy reveals that she had a partner and that he was killed by Kadabra when they tried to apprehend him before. While Cisco and Gypsy talk, Barry talks with Kadabra. Kadabra tries to push his deal, but reveals that Savitar is the first speedster and that out of all the villains, is the one that hurts Barry the most.

Joe decides to go through with the deal on his own and releases Kadabra. But before Kadabra can reveal Savitar's identity, Gypsy arrives and forces Kadabra to flee. Her and Joe get into an argument. Though Gypsy tries to chastise Joe for preventing justice, Joe makes the point that he would do anything to save his daughter. Kadabra attacks Julian and Caitlin during his escape and Caitlin is impaled.

Cisco discover that Kadabra is making a time machine to return to his own time. Gypsy, Vibe, Kid Flash, and Flash chase Kadabra throughout the city and capture him. Back at Star Labs Iris, Julian, and Cisco operate on Caitlin. They suggest that Caitlin's powers could help her to regenerate, but Caitlin doesn't let them remove her necklace. Luckily Caitlin is able to guild Julian through her own surgery, leaving only one loose end. Barry decides not to take the deal and sends Kadabra with Gypsy.

In the last scene of the episode, Julian and Caitlin talk about their relationship. They share a kiss, but Caitlin begins to have seizures. Julian, Cisco, and H.R. try to help but she flatlines. Unwilling to let her die, Julian removes the necklace that surpasses Caitlin's powers. Her pulse returns, but she instantly transforms into Killer Frost (Gif below) and attacks as the episode ends.

This episode felt like a tease that didn't have a payoff. We finally get to see Abra Kadabra, and he doesn't contribute much to the plot. Though the actor did a great job in portraying him, the Gypsy sub-plot took away from the impact of this villain and the potential for him to reveal future knowledge. However, since he is from the future, he could definitely show up again.

The transformation of Caitlin into Killer Frost was great, and it will be really excited to see where the story goes with this situation added. Despite this, Kadabra did give a tidbit of info that could be a great tease for Season 4. When telling Barry that he knows all about him, he mentions the big bad of the Flash. On top of Savitar, Kadabra name drops Thawne, Zoom, and DeVoe. Now Thawne and Zoom were the villains of the first two seasons, and Savitar is the current big bad. So who is DeVoe?

Clifford DeVoe is a classic Flash villain who appeared in the comics from the late 40's to the late 90's. Operating under the alias of "Thinker," DeVoe was a Flash villain who sometimes operated with the Injustice Society. He has a genius level intellect and has a hat that allows him to project his mental force. His later portrayed as a powerful AI who can infiltrate and control computer systems.

Did Kadabra subtly reveal the big bad for Season 4? Thinker would be an interesting villain to use. The showrunner has already confirmed that S4's big bad will not be a speedster. He could be a weekly encounter or a two-part encounter, but that doesn't explain why he is mentioned alongside Zoom and Thawne.

Overall Rating: 6.0

P.S. Looks like the Flash is getting a new suit!!!!!!!!!!
