#TheWalkingDead News Update Plus Photos And More

Tuesday, May 29th, 2018

It's that time again, that time where I inform you of all the boring blah de blah blah news to try and make it a little less painful waiting for October. Well, I'll admit it. Its only been a little over a month since the series went off for filming and I'm DYING. Okay, okay, enough of the dramatic nonsense. Let's begin!

Over the past couple of weeks, things have been extremely hush hush. The only REAL sneak peek anyone has gotten since they began filming was their outing and filming outside of the Georgia State Building back on May 3rd through that weekend. A few changes had been noticed like the cutting of Andrew Lincoln's (Rick Grimes) hair, new weapons, Anne (or Jadis) was alongside Gabriel, Gabriel's eye had gone completely blind and a few other things. Some other noticeable things were the sets. The Hilltop currently has a water tower and a plot of growing plants. Alexandria has a windmill building presently, and they also have a various building being built along with plots of crops (Check out the photos below). The crew was spotted on horseback and Daryl had a new bike. These are all things to take notice of. Alexandria also has a new sign that's more welcoming than their old sign;

A few series favorites have been secured for season 9. New characters Siddiq and Alden have also secured more airtime than the last season. Edin has been added to the roster for more appearances in the upcoming series.

Maggie Actress Lauren Cohan has been the topic lately; will she return, will she be killed off, what is her fate? Lauren Cohan picked up a new show called Whiskey Cavalier that will be airing on ABC. AMC announced that she would be in 6 episodes of the first 8, but the other eight are still unconfirmed. Many fans are wondering if this means it's still up in the air to keep her, kill her off, or if the star has chosen not to announce the whole contract deal. Should we worry...?

Something else that's very concerning is that just today (May 29th, 2018), Actor Andrew Lincoln announced that he would be exiting the show after the ninth season comes to its finale episode. I know, I'm as shocked as you are... Comicbook.Com reports;

  • Furthermore, several other cast members are in their final contracted years, though their fate with the AMC series is up in the air. Among them is Black Panther breakout Danai Gurira, who has played Michonne since the show's third season. Lauren Cohan is also expected to exit the AMC series as her current contract for Season Nine only brings her back for six total episodes. How Lincoln exits the series in unknown, but it is expected to be gone before Season Nine's finale. The actor, however, has spent years dedicating the majority of his life to a Georgia production and will be returning to his U.K. home to spend more time with his family.

    Following Season Eight, only a small handful of cast members who joined in Season Three or earlier have remained an active part of the series.

    "There's only me left in the top 10 [of the call sheet,]" Lincoln told ComicBook.com ahead of the Season Eight finale. "Norman [Reedus] and Melissa [McBride] and Danai [Gurira] and [Lauren Cohan], they're all in the twenties...This job is, as I said before, glorious and unique. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The stinger is the fact that I seem to be the guy left on the pier waving people away. That's powerful."

    Though Lincoln has expressed his excitement over the new showrunner heading into Season Nine, with Angela Kang taking on the position, he also has told ComicBook.com that he is ready to see an endpoint for his character which could be justified for the series.

    "There's part of me that wants to complete something," Lincoln said. "How long that takes? I don't know, but certainly, I think the fans and my character deserves an endpoint as some time in the future."
