"Okay, get on your knees."
Since the second half of the season began, Rick has been Hell bent on sticking it to Negan and The Saviors. Considering the circumstances, he has every right. He watched the sadistic villain murder two of his family members, his blood. Gathering supplies, allies and ground wasn't easy. It seemed to all come together once the bond was made between the Junkyard Crew and The Alexandrians. Tara informed Rick about the Oceanside people and all of their weapons so they got together and headed out towards them. When they get close, Michonne takes watch while Daryl and Jesus rig some bombs. Aaron and Erick watch their backs. Jesus tells Daryl that he feels bad for not stopping Rosita and Sasha.
Enid asks Carl if he ever thinks about the ones he's killed. He doesn't respond.
If you recall in the 14th episode, Sasha was the one to enter The Sanctuary and become imprisoned. It shows her tied and locked inside a 5x5 cell. A Savior by the name of David comes to check on her. He asks her a series of questions including if she remembers him from the night before. Whether she does or she doesn't, she says she doesn't. David gets a little too handsy and says that rope is good for many things. He then proceeds to ask her if she would do something for him if he gets her some water. Sasha remains silent. He rips her shirt and she headbutts him. He laughs and begins to take his pants off when Negan comes in. He confronts 'Rapey Davey" about it and sticks his Bowie knife through his neck. (Hello darkness, my old friend).
Negan drops down and tells Sasha how beautiful of a name she has. He tells her that he'll get her a new T-shirt and apologizes about the blood and the almost-rape. He looks at her for a moment then tells her he remembers her from the lineup. He tells her he completely understands. He compliments her on her "beach ball sized lady nuts". He asks if this was Rick's idea. She said "what, your bitch, Rick? No." He drops his blade at Sasha's feet and gives her the option to either slit her wrists or kill "Rapey-Davey" or let him to rip her face off. "To each is own". He says he wouldn't want her to do that because he likes her and he wants her as a Savior. Then, he tells her "We are not monsters."
After the commercial break, Eugene was seen bringing her some supplies; pillow, blanket, water and light. He tells her the option Negan gave her he offered to him and she should take it. He tells her he wanted to be a survivor like Abraham and admitted he was scared shitless. He tells her that the suffering can end if she joins. She tells him to go. Eugene sees David moving and was about to speak when she asks him to please go. He does. David's fingers move, he moans and his eyes open, glazed over.
Back at Hilltop, Maggie is giving gardening tips to some of the community-goers. She tells them that she spotted a young blueberry sprout and she wants to bring it in within the walls if its a good one. She goes and Gregory accompanies her. He says he wants to talk to her about Rosita and Sasha's leaving. Then he says he wonders why she's still at Hilltop. He wants her to trust him. She tells him that its never too late to change and she appreciates his coming to her and agrees to talk further with him later. She asks him to keep watch as the berry bush took longer than expected. He agrees. He pulls his blade and takes watch. He looks down at Maggie and in his head contemplates killing her. He snaps out of it though as a walker comes. He says he'll go after it and does but whimps out and Maggie goes after it. But that's not the end. No. One comes out of the treeline and tackles him. Maggie kills the one gunning for her then the one atop Gregory. She helps him up as some of the Hilltopers come. She tells them he's learning to kill them (walkers) and they say "That's not what he told us".
Tonya is seen walking through Oceanside. Rachel, her great-granddaughter, shows her her catch of the day. She skurries away to clean her kill and Tonya goes to her cabin. Tara awaits her, a gun aimed at her. Tara told her to stay quiet, , sit. Then, Cyndie comes in with laundry. Tara comes out and tells her she had no choice. Cyndie asks why she's there and Tara tells her her and her friends are going to take over hopefully without a shot fired. She tells them they need the guns to go up against the Saviors. She tells them how they killed their friends and her girlfriend and took them over. She tells them they have other communities on their side and with Oceanside, they'd have an army. Tara tells Tonya she needs to talk to Rick, to not give up and that the world belongs to them. Syndy tries convincing Tonya but Tara says she's too late. Bombs go off and people scatter like roaches. Daryl, Jesus, Aaron and Erick take on Beatrice and Kathy. Daryl gives a signal. Tara says she hopes everyone is okay (after the bombs). Tonya pushes Tara and Cyndie grabs a Desert Eagle and takes aim at Tara. Tara gives up her empty gun. Others stop the running group led by Rachel as Rick comes to them and explains to them what happened. Tonya comes with Tara as a hostage. Tara tells Michonne not to shoot. Cyndie tells the Oceansiders that Rick's group wants to fight the Saviors. Tonya says no. Tara says they'll win. Beatrice says they should. Tonya's outraged. Cyndie decks her grandmother. A herd of walkers come in. Rick and Come line up. Some Oceansiders join. They take fire and knock them out. Beatrice and Rick shake hands Tonya tells them to take the guns and go.
Back at The Sanctuary, Negan checks up on Sasha. When the door opens, she's standing against the wall, his knife in Rapey-Davey's head. She says that he (Negan) won. He tells her "No, you win," as he pulls his blade. She looks at him and somewhat frowns. "Babysteps," he tells her. "Trust must be established. Your surrender is a good start." He then says, "Enjoy tonight. Tomorrow's gonna be a BIG day." He shuts the door.
Gregory was seen in his office (presumably after the walker kill). He pulls out a bottle of tequila and sits down. He pulls out the piece of paper Simon gave him along with a map of the area around them and began mapping out the Sanctuary location. He calls to a guy named Cal and tells him that he needs him to drive him somewhere.
Eugene checks up on Sasha after word spreads that she's "in". She says that she was wrong, she can't and she won't. She explained that she was trying to figure out how she could with what happened, them still being out there and how she's trapped. "You have to help," she tells him. "A knife, and razor blade, something." She explains she knows that Negan is going to use her against them and death is the only way to ensure he can't use her. She begs him, "Please, a gun, a knife, glass." He says he'll "consider it". She thanks him.
Rick and Co round up the guns as the women and children of Oceanside watch. Father Gabriel asks Rick "Do we really need them all?" Rick says they do. Carl and Enid tote out a crate and he answers her question. "I don't just think about the ones I killed. I think about the ones I didn't kill, too." Tara tells them they'll return the guns when its over. Cyndie wants to go. She says that some want to fight and others don't. Tara thanks Cyndie for saving her life over and over and over again. Cyndie thanks Tara for what they're doing. Rachel asks Tara "you're not leaving us any?" Tara says "nope," and flips her the bird. Rick asks Tara if she's okay and she says yes.
Sasha was pacing, anxiously awaiting Eugene's return. Then, a knock rocks her 5x5. Eugene. He slides something under the door. "Its poison." (The poison pill means for one of the wives in an earlier episode). He tells her it'll take effect in 20 to 30 minutes. He says he believes its painless. He says he doesn't want her to go. "...but it sounds like you're already gone."
The group returns to Alexandria after nightfall. Rosita is there and opens the gate for them. Once inside, they bombard her, asking if she's okay and where's Sasha. Rosita says someone's waiting for them. She takes them to there. It's DWIGHT! Daryl tries to charge him but Rick stops him. Dwight says he wants to help. Rick asks if its true. Dwight says he truly does. Rick nods. Then, Rick pulls out the Python and says "Okay, get on your knees."
