Only two weeks remain until probably the highest anticipated Season premiere premieres. Although Season 7 was the highest because of Negan's long awaited arrival, I really think that Season 9 will be the highest anticipated and maybe even viewed of the show's history. Honestly, my head hurts trying to wrap it around all that's going on. But, I kinda have to! I am going to discuss what I haven't yet and explore more on what I feel is likely to happen.
The first thing I'd like to bring up is that this looks a lot like Shane. Originally, I was thinking it was Rick leading a horde away, but the more I rewatch and think about it, it may actually be Shane on the white horse. But why Shane? And How? Well, here's how. If Rick is put into a predicament that he is bitten by walkers or even stabbed by a Whisperer, Rick may hallucinate that Shane is coming to save him like a knite on his white steed. But why Shane? Why not someone like Carl or Lori? Well, Shane was his partner on the force for X amount of years and he was his orginial brother so to speak. So, in essence, it only makes logical sense. But, who would it actually be? None other than Negan!
As we all know, Negan has been the man we've loved to hate (except for me). So, if Rick spared Negan from death, wouldn't it be logical that he saves him in a sense? Perhaps in one aspect no, but in another sense, yes. Negan may be faced with another scenario where Rick has to help him out of and yet again feel indebted to him. So, if Rick is on the search for him and gets injured beyond help in the process, Negan would all but need to save him. Well, kind of. In a regular Negan scenario, no, but Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln both have hinted at a phenomenal new Negan this season. So, Negan saving Rick would be my first guess. Negan could also be the Savior that they haven't wanted in saving Judith and even Baby Hershal during a fight with walkers or even Whisperers.
By now, nearly every Walking Dead fan has heard that our "famous Rick Grimes" is leaving us. But does he take this character's comic death? For those of you who don't know, Andrea died in issue 168 of the comics. And, it was rather brutal. She was bit in the neck by a walker during The Whisperer war attempting to save Eugene. Could Rick take her death? It's possible. Gimple, former showrunner hinted that Rick's exit will brutal but phenomenal. I also theorize that Negan will save Rick from being torn apart and on his death bed, Rick will make Maggie and Daryl and Negan come to an understanding that they will make work.
For those of you who don't know, Rick has a brother and his name is Jeffrey! No, not Jeffrey Dean Morgan, sadly. But, a younger Rick Grimes. Jeffrey Grimes has been mentioned very little but he does have a brother. And, with AMC forcing the "Rick Grimes final episodes", could this be hinting at a new Grimes coming along? Possibly. But why when they're killing off our precious leader? Well, to cushion the blow of losing Rick. But think about it, they're saying "Rick Grimes" not "Andrew Licoln". So, could Andrew play his younger brother? Absolutely! But, that may not happen completely. But, it definitely could after Andrew takes a well deserved vacation with his family...
Did you notice this scene in the teaser video released by AMC? There was a part in the 27 second trailer there was a moment where Rick was seen sliding down an embankment and a walker follows. Many people are stumped at this. Well, I think that Aaron was either pushed or shoved down there and Rick went down to save him, only to see his had been bitten and they have to take his arm. If you look at the photo above, you'll see what looks like slide marks that make my theory valid that someone or something this down there. However, I think it's going to be Aaron because in the preview Aaron was seen tangling with some Saviors and I think that this scene is related to that.
If you didn't know, Lauren Cohan's contract is still up in the air on whether or not she returns. So, her death is "open ended". Well, if they decided to kill her off, here's how it could happen. Maggie, as we all saw, had a Governess moment and decided to plot against Rick and Michonne. And, if she does decide to attempt to kill either Rick or Negan, she could die in the process. She could die by their hand, or a walker bite. I could see Negan being defenseless and only having a walker to use. And hell, Negan loves his women but he will kill any and all who would harm them. Rick on the other hand will only kill if he has to. And, with it being Maggie, Rick may be a little more hesitant. There was a scene that made me think of this though, about 3 and a half minutes in, Edin and Siddiq were seen looking solemn and the same color fabric as Maggie's shirt seen earlier in the video clip when her and Jesus are headed to do something. Could they even die together? It's a possibility. Jesus was rumored dead so this could happen as well.
Could Aaron become the new 'leader' after Rick leaves? Given some info and the fact that Aaron looks almost identical to the comic book Rick as well as the rumored arm amputation, I would say there is a strong possibility of this. Aaron has shown some serious leader potential. However, no one can ever be our Rick except Rick himself.
It was unclear as to who would lead the Sanctuary after Negan's imprisonment. Who could take over leadership? Eugene? Daryl? Dwight? Dwight and Sherry took the Sancyuary after Negan's departure in the comics but Dwight was told to beat it by Daryl after the war. His return is questionable but I don't think we have seen the end of Dwighty Boy. I doubt that he'll be leading anytime soon, but I could see Eugene leading. Hell, maybe even Daryl. What more power could it be for Daryl to run the place where he was the captive and torturee? I could see that but I more so see Eugene over the Sanctuary. Afterall, he was Negan once. He could be Negan again...
Alright y'all, that's all I got! I hope you enjoyed the article! Let me know in the comments below whether you agree, disagree or what you think!
