#TheWalkingDead Season 9 Theories

Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

Holy freaking oh my Lord! We are getting down to the final weeks! I'm counting down the days, are you?

Today, I am here to discuss my personal theories based on mine and only my theories. While I do have reference points, these are all my personal theories on the upcoming season. Ready?

*WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS POTENTIAL SPOILERS FROM THE CURRENT SEASON BEING FILMED. IF YOU DON'T READ SPOILERS, STOP NOW! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!*

Theory Number 1; Rick. Is he leaving? Is he dying? Or is he just severely sick?

Since day two of filming, fans got the heart stopping news news that Rick Grimes actor Andrew Lincoln would be leaving after season 9. And, at Comic Con, we got the confirmation. But, one thing that confused fans was that he stated that his relationship with Rick Grimes is "far from over." Hmm... Well, the way I take this is that Rick isn't going anywhere PERMANENTLY. Yes, he may disappear, but I honestly dont believe Rick Grimes is going anywhere anytime soon. He may get severely sick or he may leave, searching for perhaps a cure. So maybe, if Rick leaves with the search of a cure, in the series finale, maybe Rick will have an immunity cure... One thing for sure that I don't think will happen is us seeing Rick Grimes dying off in the new season (fingers crossed).

Theory Number 2; Rick may know the cure...

This plays into my last theory that Rick may disappear but re up with a cure to the "walker virus." No, the walkers will never return to the same status as everyone, but by a cure, I mean immunity. Rick could find an immunity cure to where no one will ever be infected again or it will die out of their blood system, protecting them indefinitely. Maybe the cure even lies within himself...or Judith... Hell, maybe Eugene will manifest a "cure" to wipe out packs of walkers by the millions. I highly doubt that. But, I think there could be a cure of sorts in the making.

Theory Number 3; Maggie (probably) isn't going to die...

For a while now, speculation surrounding Maggie's fate has been up in the air. Maggie Greene (Rhee) actor Lauren Cohan was recently casted in Whiskey Cavilier and many fans wondered whether that meant doom for Maggie. Well, it could be bad, but it probably won't be doom. I personally believe that it could go either way with Maggie depending on how she does things this season. But, I do however believe that Maggie (probably) wont die off...this season that is. Depending on whether she continues to hide her anger towards Rick and Negan, I think that will play on her fate, whether she lives or not. We shall see which was Maggie decides...

Theory Number 4; Rick and Daryl's relationship...

Since Daryl escaped captivity back in season 7, he and Rick have had their fair share of disagreements, fights and arguments. But, nothing like what's to come in season 9... They came to blows in season 8, countless disagreements but, I have a horrible feeling that their final bout is going to end deadly. But, on the other hand, I feel that no matter the blow, the end will come out better. I really hope that Rick and Daryl's relationship doesn't fizzle out because they are the team of teams. Without Rick and Daryl, I wouldn't know what do to. This season, I think we're gonna see one final bout but then things will get better between them.

Theory Number 5; Negan's role in Season 9...

Since the season 6 finale, out favorite villain we love to hate both broke our hearts, drove us crazy and made us fall in love with the bad guy. Negan brought in his band of misfits to cause Rick and the gang grief and make them run around in circles only to make them come right back to the Saviors' front door. Well, at the end of season 8, that came to an explosive end. But, Negan is still gonna have a quintessential role this season (in my opinion). Negan is going to be very vital to the survival of everyone this season.  I think that Negan may even be more vital that Magna and Yumiko's arrival. Negan will definitely have a good role in the new season.

Theory Number 6; Anne (Jadis) and her helicopter...

Since about halfway through season 8, Jadis and her helicopter has been driving us nuts trying to figure out what it's for and how its even powered. This season, we will definitely be finding out more about that. I personally think that Anne is connected to a large group (maybe even The Commonwealth) and this could trigger Rick's vanishing. It coult have MANY things to do with the helicopter. I personally feel that Jadis was connected to a larger community and perhaps The Commonwealth.

Theory Number 7; The Commonwealth...

The Commonwealth is new to the comics and unknown in the show. Other than the possible hint at Pamila Milton (The Commonwealth's leader) with the Georgie arrival with the book, that was the only possible hint that The Commonwealth was in the works until the trailer where it gave two viable hints (the windmill with The Commonwealth on the tail and the Toledo sign at their makeshift camp) suggesting that we may see them in the new season. I definitely lean towards The Commonwealth making an appearance this season however brief it may be.

Theory Number 8;  Trailer Easter Eggs and their hidden messages...

The 5 and a half minute trailer gave so much insight to the new season yet left us with so many questions. One curtain thing is this season is going to be jam packed with non-stop action. The first and most obvious easter egg was the straight out of the comics scene with Rick and Negan talking while Negan is in the jail cell. One thing that I couldn't help but think about was Negan's message by telling Rick that one day will come when things aren't so good. Hmm...

The next easter egg was the straight comic was the noticeable time jump and evolution of things. Crops are being grown, bullets are sparcer so they are using more melee weapons and the community is growing! Nature has taken the world back but the people are staking their claim. This is good for the survivors. But, it could also harm them when people see what they have, it coulf easily make them a large target...transportation has been reduced to the wild wild West on horseback...and a motorcycle.

The next egg was the present Whisperer hints throughout the trailer. In the trailer, you saw a "walker" stumbling onto a downed fence with signs that I took as a warning to stay out. The Whisperers are undoubtedly coming this season. I think they'll make their appearance sooner rather than later.

The Commonwealth made their presence known tastefully throughout as I stated before. The sign on the windmill as well as the Toledo sign at their makeshift camp made us almost smell The Commonwealth and made people jump in joy.

The next egg was Carzekiel! Oh wow am I so ready for this to come into light! They were seen cozying up by the fire at their camp and many people have been suggesting the fact that they are getting married. Ooh! I know, church bells are a ringing! Carzekiel is happening and I am so excited! I just hope to God that he doesn't meet his comic book fate...

The next easter egg was the fact that Rick, Daryl and Maggie are in a three way dispute between one another, fighting over who's right and what's right. Well, throughout the trailer, it was more than present again. You could feel it between the three. I actually have an interesting theory about this... Even though I hope to god this doesn't happen, I theorize that if Maggie and Rick die off, it may go down like this... what if Maggie is plotting against Rick with Daryl either setting up his demise of killing Rick himself and Michonne finds out. After they kill Rick or get Rick out of the picture, Michonne finds out, becomes furious and kills Maggie not only by her hand but...with Lucille?! Now, I do not want this to happen, but if it did, that would be one balls to the wall revenge, wouldn't it? Like I said, I wouldn't want that to play out that way but damn, that would be one helluva revenge move. Not that I'm con Maggie, but if Maggie was to be taken out, it would probably be for the better considering the fact that she has become a mini "Governor" with her power. So if she we're to die, well, it would probably be for the best...

The next easter egg was Michonne taking on the two "walkers" and killing them with a throat slash. Okay, for one, those weren't walkers. Walkers won't go down with a throat cut. Those damn sure were Whisperers. I am nowhere near convinced that those were just walkers. I'm about 98% positive that those were people wearing walker skins...

The last easter egg not so hidden in the trailer was Magna and Yumiko's arrival. Oh lord am I excited to see them in action! They are a vital key in The Whisperer War.  They are one of the factors that keeps Rick and Co alive in the comics. I personally have been waiting for years for them to release Yumiko and Magna and I'm really happy that time has come!

Theory Number 9; New Threats

The dead are not the imminent threat any longer. They are just a part of their way of life. The threat is with the living. The living are the danger, the threat of their survival. But, The Whisperers are the ultimate threat because not only are they skillful and plan everything out, they disguise themselves as the dead with skins. Their army is huge and their backup is endless. Rick and his group have never dealt with something this massive before. The Saviors come nowhere close to them. And hell, whether he wants to or not, they're gonna have to have Negan help them because he's just crazy enough to get them out of this giant threat.

Theory Number 10; Morgan

Back when season 8 began, I called Morgan leaving the show and going to Fear and bringing the cast over to Alexandria. Well, I called it and I was right. With three quarters of the season over, Morgan has been working his way back to Virginia. But, there are still some pieces missing. I won't go into detail but I feel that once those pieces are brought back together, I think that they'll be headed back to Virginia by the finale of Fear and the beginning of Season 9 for The Walking Dead, they will all be together. If this does happen, I feel that Morgan's role will be very vital, maybe even taking over a lead, so to speak. Morgan and Rick have a very important relationship, they found one another from the start. Now, he's using things Rick did and Rick is using things Morgan used. Their relationship is very unique and ingratiate. So, if Morgan does bring back everyone or he just comes back period, I feel he will have a very important role...

Theory Number 11; How much longer can The Walking Dead continue?

The Walking Dead has been comic book based since day one, ripping our favorite scenes from the book pages. The series was an instant hit with millions. But, since season 7, the show's viewing numbers have been declining. However, the show is also coming up on the present comics quickly, and maybe a little too quickly. This makes me wonder; how much longer can TWD go on? Well, as sad as it is for me to say, I feel that it may have two seasons left under its wing. I think that The Walking Dead will have two more successful seasons, maybe three, but it will either peeter out or just die off. I would like to see it end in a movie to wrap things up but it may end with Rick returning with a cure. That would be epic. And, as it pains me to say This, our beloved show cannot go on forever...or, can it? No, it really can't but we can say it will all we want to. Eventually, it will come to a close. But, our beloved show will continue on in the comics no matter what happens in the comics. The Walking Dead Will forever be our show, whether its in new episodes or reruns on DVD...

Alright, guys. That's all I got. If you hung out to This point, thank you so much. I love every one of my readers and I am joyed to write for you guys. Until next time, be safe out there.
