Okay, so the last episode left us hanging. Bulshar blows. Literally. He likes to blow this white powder stuff and he managed to do that to Wynonna and Doc in the barn at the end of the last episode.
Let me tell you….this episode is like Groundhog Day on crack, and it’s awesome. However, there is so, so much going on in this episode, that I am seriously going to try to do just the highlights and tell you to watch it to see more.
WayHaught fans were all excited in the beginning. I could feel it. I mean you have moaning and panting coming from the house and think the two are having a sex frenzy with the mention of the possibility of needing more lube.
Sorry folks. They are just in the kitchen trying to get the ring off of Waverly’s hand. Waverly thinks she might just keep it on and Nicole reminds her of where it came from (a shrivled up cut off demon hand) and who else used it (the Widows) and that she “Wonder Woman-punched a zombie witch across the room. Waverly is proud of that last one. Nicole says what is more concerning is that it might do harm to one of their friends. Waverly sighs and agrees and sends Nicole out to get some bolt cutters from the barn.
In the barn….wait…..what? Doc and Wynonna are just finishing up with a second round of a romp in the hay. Nicole comes and pounds on the door yelling for Wynonna. Both Doc and Wynonna tell her not to come in. “The mini bar is full” Wynonna says and Doc adds (as he is looking at his parts under the blanket) “Decidedly not mini”. LOL. Nicole gets frustrated and asks what she is supposed to tell Waverly, are they on again? “Oh, we are on” Doc says and adds quietly to Wynonna “On each other” and they chuckle. Nicole decides she will just tell Waverly that they were drinking and fighting and goes to walk away. She pauses, like she feels a presence and then sighs and says “Those two need separate cages” and walks to the house.
Back in the barn, Doc looks at Wynonna and asks if this means she forgives him. “For the vamp thing? I would say we kissed and made up” she replies. Doc tells her that it seems that his hunger for blood has subsided for the time being (RED FLAG RIGHT THERE) and that he would never betray her trust. Wynonna tells him he is such a gentleman (not something she would normally say) and she lays her head on his chest. She suggests they go to sleep and wake up together. From a different perspective, we see the real picture. Bulshar’s weird beekeeper minions standing around and Bulshar looking down and saying “They are mine”. We see Doc and Wynonna not lying on the floor naked under a blanket, but sitting up with their eyes glazed over white.
Waverly and Nicole are at the station. They have called in a creepy ass jeweler (guessing the only one in town?) who likes to joke around about that he might slip with the mini saw and that is what law settlements are for. He tries to saw off the ring, but it dulls and stops the blade. Upon further inspection he becomes overly excited when he sees the engraving and he even says “Paradise!” Nicole and Waverly back away and get their coats. Nicole gets a call about a disturbance at the Gardner House and they head out.
Doc and Wynonna are now taking a romantic, leisurely walk in the woods. Wynonna is clinging to Doc’s arm and with his other hand he somehow got a cup of coffee or something to drink. Wynonna asks if there was something they were supposed to be doing. Tarot cards, Bulshar, Bulshar found what he was looking for. Doc says doesn’t she remember they are going to head Bulshar off at the pass. She easily agrees. Doc asks “Are you okay….with…us?” “Well, there is that whole bitey, vampy, fangy thing” she replies and Doc reminds her that he did that for her. She smiles and says that she only feels like herself when she is with him. OKAY!! When has Wynonna and Doc EVER…I repeat….EVER talked to each other so openly and been so romantic with each other. Huge red flag and I can’t believe they can’t see it.
Well, Peacemaker decided it is time for a wakeup call and does that buzzy, shocky thing it does to wake Wynonna the hell up. Wynonna tells Doc this whole thing is giving her a headache and that something is wrong….she doesn’t feel well. She snaps out of it at that point and sees the minions walking ahead of her. “It’s a trick! It’s Bulshar!” she yells, trying to warn Doc, but he isn’t waking up.
The minions walking ahead suddenly stop and turn. They come at Wynonna and two grab her and another tries to stuff one of those weird ass seeds in her mouth. She fights them off and turns only to find Bulshar with even more of his minions. “For a million old hell monster you…..look…like cat barf” she tells him.
Bulshar says that she now knows their fates are intertwined and he is very impressed with how she has been able to resist him. He says it is time for a different approach, so Wynonna puts up her hands thinking hand to hand combat it is. However, Bulshar just blows some more of that freaking dust and things slow way down and her and Doc fall backwards.
Wynonna wakes up and she is in a strange room. Actually, she is in the basement of (fake) Shorty’s bar.
Doc isn’t physically with her so she heads up the stairs. However, she opens the door and goes through just to find herself going down the stairs from the second floor. She gets into the bar and doesn’t see anyone, but there are two glasses and a bottle of whiskey. “Well, at least there’s booze” she says just before an arrow comes out of nowhere and kills her.
She wakes up again in the same place in the basement. This time, Doc is there, but as a projection on some crates. He can hear her and she can hear him, but he can’t see her. He is not sure where he is, but it isn’t good and that he is barely able to move so he might be paralyzed.
Wynonna runs upstairs again, and again and again. Each time she is killed by something different. The second time up, she dodges the arrow, but gets a poison dart in the throat. Another time (we don’t see) Doc asks her if she is okay and her reply is “Does a molten hot lava spike to the eye count? Which, by the way, really smaaaaarts.” Another time it is acid. At some point she goes to the wooden X (Doc was tied to once) and starts marking number of attempts. Wynonna asks why does “Bulshwhack” have to make it hurt and Doc answers that might be the point…..Pain. Wynonna stands and says in true Wynonna fashion, “I am like metal. The more you hit it, the stronger it gets. Oh, and I’m shiny. And dense. Holy crap! I did learn something in high school!” and she runs up the stairs for the millionth time.
Nicole and Waverly arrive and enter the Gardner House expecting to find Kate. Waverly is afraid they are going to walk into something vampire like kinky. However, a woman’s grunting and yelling from a room ahead makes them think otherwise. They find Mercedes, who at some point got out of the hospital and is now trying to hammer off a lock on a safe.
She says her dumbass brother changed the combo when he was with those Widow bitches. She asks Waverly and Nicole if they know anything about all the blood and sex toys on the bed. Waverly just tells her that there was an uninvited guest. Mercedes, being the bitch she can be, looks at the two and asks if they are just “gonna stand there like a couple of dildos” and Nicole has Waverly swear not to tell anyone she wasted a bullet. She shoots off the lock and Mercedes reaches in and starts kissing her wads of cash. Nicole and Waverly both see a shadow go past the window on the outside and know they have company.
Wynonna marking another attempt to her many and Doc who has changed position to the boiler, tries to reason with her to just stop a minute and “Count her cards. Be methodical.” She tells him it isn’t her style and runs back upstairs. We finally get to see where Doc is. With every slam of the door and footstep, dirt is falling between the cracks of the floor. He is under the floor boards.
Back at the Gardner House, the uninvited guest is Derek the jeweler. He says he HAS to see that ring again. Waverly mentions to Mercedes that he is a jeweler and she already knows because that is who she has used to pawn stuff. Mercedes orders Derek to leave as she has nothing else for him to get his grubby hands on. He insists he needs that ring, he has to have it. Waverly mentions he is a demon and Mercedes rolls her eyes and says “Is every dick trumpet in Purgatory a demon?” Derek’s eyes change to that demon color and he grabs Mercedes by the chin. What looks like small lightning bolts come from his fingertips. “My fingers can cut diamonds. Flesh is no match.” Nicole points her gun at him and Waverly reminds him she can’t even take it off. No problem for Derek. He pulls out a pair of garden shears. He says he has to pay fealty….ultimate fealty to Bulshar. Nicole shoots him, but apparently his skin is just as tough as a diamond. That pisses him off and he goes for Nicole laying his hand on her chest. He shoves the shears at Waverly ordering her to take it off….finger and all. Waverly threatens him that he is in for a lot of pain and shoots out her hand, expecting to do that same Wonder Woman move. However it doesn’t work, but Derek gets a hungry look seeing the ring and comes forward. Waverly coaxes him forward. “You want the ring Derek?” As he gets close enough, she yells “Take it!” and puts her hand over his face. He screams in pain as his face is almost melted off.
Wynonna, still at it has awoken again and Doc is now on that “X” she had been marking up. She sits on the floor and says she needs a new plan. Nope, she doesn’t have a plan. She tells Doc that this is what it must feel like to be a Revenant and that it “sucks donkey schlong”. That reminds her of Donkey Kong, a video game. She tells Doc that it is like a video game and that there is always a way out in the game. Suddenly she starts yelling “Ow, Ow!” She stands up and jumps on a chair and says that her ass is hot. Doc informs her “If you are looking for validation, I am afraid I will have to agree.” She says thanks, but no, the floor is on fire. “I’m out!” she yells and runs up the stairs.
This time however, Wynonna tries to rush through the door and runs straight into a chair to the gut. She stops and looks around. She hears Doc calling for her and his face is on the fireplace. She tells him she is at home now.
Meanwhile in the woods, where Wynonna and Doc really are, we see them entangled in branches and roots from the trees still in that strange trance state. “Excellent” says looking at them. He babbles about how the Earp heir will watch for all eternity as he enters the garden, the world burns and he enslaves humankind. He adds that (according to him anyway) that she will know it is all her fault. We see his is near that weird black staircase Jeremy and Robin encountered.
Back at the fake Homestead, Doc tell Wynonna to take a moment and have a drink. She takes a swig of whiskey and stomps her foot. It tastes like bear piss she says, but Doc tells her to stomp again. He can hear her and it is coming from above. She continues stomping and they figure out exactly where he under the floor boards. Here we go again folks. Wynonna decides she will need a tool from the barn, so gets up and goes out. She doesn’t get attacked outside….that’s good. However, she enters the barn and a very angry Bobo is there to greet her. She shoots him. She soon finds out, die and start over, kill Bobo and start over. We don’t see it, but what we think is only a second or third time, Doc yells at her to stop. Every time she runs in and out he gets more and more buried. She swears that it has only been a couple of times, but Doc tells her no. It has been many, many times. She looks at the floor and there are quite a few chalk marks like she was making in the basement earlier. Then she starts remembering that she has done it over and over and shot Bobo each time. She observes that it is dirt that is on Doc’s face and he is slowly being buried alive. Doc says yes and that he is being punished for turning down Bulshar’s offer of cleansing his soul (like a Demon could do that) in exchange for making Wynonna do Bulshar’s bidding. Wynonna decided to try again, but this time without the gun.
At the Gardner House Waverly is telling how she doesn’t think when things happen, it is like the ring has a mind of its own. She is worried that she is going to touch someone close to her and hurt them. Mercedes has to bring up that “Everything you Earps touch is cursed as you are”. She adds that they are screwed if it is indeed Bulshar’s ring because the Widows were only afraid of one thing…..Bulshar. Then of course, Mercedes has to make it about her how those bitches ripped off her face and even with all the surgeries she is still ugly and hideous. Waverly touches Mercedes’ cheek and says she is still beautiful (remember this for later). Waverly grabs the shears and is going to cut her finger off with the ring and Nicole stops her and says that there is obviously something very powerful at work here. Mercedes adds that “Your sex life is about to get very good or very, very bad. So, put a mitt on it!” She hands Waverly an oven mitt to put on that hand. Mercedes leaves and Nicole says to Waverly that if it is indeed demon magic holding that ring on, then maybe they need demon magic to take it off. Waverly says her and Jeremy will look into it.
Just then, Jeremy calls and says that Robin gave him access to all the cams and surveillance in the area and he has found something “Bulshary” on an eagle cam that looks like a huge amount of overgrown tree roots. He tells her he doesn’t want to go in alone, so he will text them his location.
Waverly and Nicole meet up with Jeremy. He starts to says that if Bulshar is looking for the Garden.....then Waverly finishes it with “Then the staircase may be the entrance!” Jeremy turns and he and Waverly are going to do a high five, but she yells “No, death hand! Remember?” Jeremy goes for a supportive elbow bump instead. “Uh, guys….speaking of death hand.” Nicole says and they look over to an overgrown tree branch and root pile and see a hand sticking out.
Wynonna goes into the barn and tries to reason with Bobo, showing she has no gun this time. She says that Constance, Juan Carlo and himself, Robert managed bury Bulshar for over 100 years so there must be a way to stop him. Bobo says that the other two are dead and he is no longer that Robert that cast the spell…..he is dead also. Wynonna begs for him to help her, but he isn’t going for it. He comes at her with the sickle and she takes a long wooden handle, breaks it in two and goes at him. She gets it in the neck and Bobo gets a stake in either side. They both fall back and Wynonna talks to Bobo, saying he knows her, her family, Willa who he loved and Waverly his angel. Bobo says he has no resolve to fight, it is gone. Bulshar won when he cursed the Earp family and all the Revenants to return to fight and die over and over and over again. It will never end. Wynonna tells him they can never give up. Bobo says he has already given up and she will too soon.
Back in the woods the trio are checking out the tree root system and Waverly realizes it is Bobo. Jeremy raises his hatchet “Death to Bobo!” Waverly stops him and Nicole hands him a pointy stick and they begin to pull and hack away the trap.
Wynonna wakes up slowly on the floor face down. She adds a mark to her collection there. She slowly moves over to the fireplace where Doc’s face is.
She asks him if he is sure that this isn’t hell. He tells her he is certain it isn’t because when he was in hell, he was alone. Wynonna pauses for a moment and then says, “I never gave up on you Doc. Even when it looked like it. I wish you hadn’t given up on me.” Doc starts to cry. “I would never! Not on you! Not on our daughter! Never.” He pauses then asks Wynonna if it would be selfish of him to ask her to try one more time. “I will understand if you deem me unworthy.” Wynonna, now crying too says, “This would be so much easier if you were.” She slowly gets up and heads back out to the barn.
Jeremy and the girls have succeeded in freeing Bobo, but he is still unconscious. Waverly yells his name and he wakes up aggressive, but then realizes he isn’t in that barn still. “He’s got ‘em” he tells them.
When asked he’s got who Bobo says that it is Wynonna and Doc. Nicole remarks that no, they are still back in the barn having sex, to which Waverly is mildly appalled because Nicole told her they were drinking and fighting. Bobo goes on to say that Bulshar is in their minds, he is everywhere. “These are his groves.” Bobo says and that Bulshar wants what he has always wanted. Revenge.
Wynonna comes bursting through the barn door saying some smart ass remarks to find no Bobo. She is upset that it was such a waste of an entrance and wants a do over. She grabs a crowbar and heads back outside. There she sees Bulshar with a weird looking door standing alone behind him. She asks if that is the way out and he just nods slightly and smiles. Bulshar says that Doc could have made this all so much easier if he would have agreed to the terms, but his resistance brought this trial to her. She remarks that he is all tough when she doesn’t have her gun, but reaching down it is there. His game, his rules he says. He tells her that he will have that gun and she will give it to him willingly. She shoots at him twice not even fazing him and makes him laugh. He says it works only on the revenants he made for the curse. “So, you can’t take Peacemaker. Good to know.” She tells him that when this game is over, she is going to take the gun and shove it up his ass and blow his guts out through his brain and she walks into the house.
Bobo tells Jeremy and the girls how Bulshar found him and blew some dust in his face. He was stuck in that place forever and now Wynonna is there forever. That it is nowhere and everywhere at the same time. He and Wynonna killed each other over and over and over again. Bobo adds that he gave up because he was weak. Wynonna wanted to keep fighting Bulshar, but she will give in too. Waverly thinks there is some time and need to find them. Jeremy says he can feel them (WTH does that mean? Does that mean Jeremy has some sort of power too?) Jeremy and Nicole run off. Waverly stops and pushes Bobo back against a tree with her mitt hand. Bobo falls to his knees and says “Your father’s ring. You found IT….or….IT found you?” This is a good sign! It means it is angel magic and not demonic.
Wynonna finally gets to rip up the floor boards and gets an almost completely buried Doc out. He is happy he is free and asks how she defeated Bulshar. She says she didn’t but Bobo is gone and Bulshar showed up with a “Narnia looking door”. She asks Doc if he is ready to take the fight to him and they both get up and walk outside. Wynonna yells for Bulshar when they get outside. He doesn’t show up right away, but when they are halfway to the door, he appears. He says they are free to go and that they have won. He suddenly and mysteriously has a hole (no blood mind you) where Wynonna had shot him earlier. She sees this and says that Peacemaker CAN hurt him and takes aim again. Bulshar flakes apart and turns to ash and disappears. Doc and Wynonna can’t believe it worked, but go through the door. I am yelling at the TV….it is a trap….a trick!! Why don’t these characters listen to me! I mean did you REALLY think it was THAT freaking easy to kill him? If it was, why wasn’t that approach used the last time? COME ON!!
Well, guess what. Wynonna and Doc end up in the barn. It appears they did win, as they are both dressed like they were before Bulshar did his blow job (sorry…had to say it eventually). Both are very happy. Wynonna remarks that she and Doc weren’t having sex in the hay because that made no sense. Doc in the background says, “No, not at all” and looks away. She says she is still pissed at him for selling his soul to that bitch wife Kate, but they won and she gives him a hug. Nicole’s voice is heard calling for Wynonna. Wynonna thinks that is a great sound and heads outside.
Guess what Wynonna….you DID NOT win. I told you it was a trick! She ends up right back at the very beginning. Back in Shorty’s basement with Doc as a projection on the boiler saying he can barely move and must be paralyzed. She falls over, starting to cry. You can hear Bulshar laughing. She starts to get up slowly, crawls a bit, walks slowly to the stairs and basically crawls up them. She opens the door and finds herself in front of the house with Bulshar right in front of her. “You can’t kill me. I can keep this up forever” he tells her smugly. Wynonna tries to stay strong and says she is just warming up. Bulshar rubs in that there is no victory, only surrender. He finds her amusing and remarks that she is all alone and he starts to back up. We see two fresh graves. One says Waverly and the other says Doc. Wynonna looks at her hands and asks if he made her dig those and Bulshar nods with a smile.
Wynonna starts to talk to herself, to not give up, she (Waverly) will come for her, they will find her. We see Jeremy and the girls running through the forest in slow motion and Bulshar is telling Wynonna that no one is coming to save her and it could be and “infinity” before anyone realizes she is gone. He adds that everyone dies alone and her lonely death is coming soon. “I don’t want to be alone.” Wynonna tells him. Bulshar tries to convince her to be with those she loves before it all comes to an end. He laughs and thinks she wishes to punish them, but she tells him she wants to save them.
Bulshar shows Wynonna the Tower tarot card again. “You need the Tower to get into the garden. Peacemaker is the Tower.” Wynonna says. Bulshar tells her that if she needs incentive he has plenty more games up his sleeve and he swipes his hand towards Doc’s grave. She can hear him calling out for help. Begging for help. Wynonna starts to cry and gets on her hands and knees and starts to dig. Doc tells her not to do it. To stay strong. Then she hears Waverly’s voice screaming her name.
We see that is not Bulshar’s trick. Waverly is yelling for her sister as they chop and rip away the branches and roots. Wynonna puts her hands over her ears and cries. “There is only one way to save them.” Bulshar says. “You’ll let them go?” Wynonna asks. Bulshar gives her his word and he keeps his word just like his curses. “I’m sorry. I love you.” She whispers.
In the real world, Waverly is holding up Wynonna while the others get Doc. Nicole tells Waverly too late about the ring touching Wynonna, but it wakes her and Doc up. Doc’s vampire comes out and it takes him a minute to calm down. He looks over at Wynonna with Waverly hugging her. “Say you didn’t. Say you didn’t give up Wyatt Earp’s gun.” Wynonna just gives him a helpless sad look.
Back at home…for real, Wynonna and Waverly sit in front of the fire in the fireplace. Wynonna seems upset about what she did and that Bulshar managed to beat her. She doesn’t think it can get much worse. Waverly takes off the mitt and reminds her sister that she has that damn ring stuck to her finger that can hurt or kill people. Wynonna smiles and tells Waverly that she is an angel and can’t even get the ring off.
They laugh some and then laugh some more when Waverly points out that she may have to wear that mitt forever.
At the Gardner House, it appears Mercedes did not go catch that flight. She stands in front of a mirror and slowly takes off the little bit of bandages she had on. She is overwhelmed and happy and says “Waverly, you wonderful little lesbian! You healed me!” Mercedes’ face doesn’t have a mark on it.
SOOOOOOO…….I am upset that Wynonna gave over Peacemaker so easily. Bulshar needs her alive, because she has to give him the gun willingly. She had to have known it was a trick and he was in her head. But, like I said, this was a packed episode. There were pieces here and there that I was hoping were real, but weren’t and probably won’t be reality for Wynonna or Doc anytime soon. Now that Bulshar has the staircase at hand and the key….Peacemaker…now what? Those angels and backup better show up soon. Hoping Black Badge doesn’t show up with a bomb.
