Outlander Gets TWO...Count Them...TWO more Seasons! But......

I am happy to announce that it was released today on World Outlander Day, that the TV Series got renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.  This is trending today, as fans all over the world unite with happiness.  Today is the 25th anniversary of the release of the first book in the series, which is the title of the TV show.  Appropriate timing I would say.

However, my own happiness was cut short by the articles I read that said that each season would be based on a book.  Voyager, the third book in the series will be Season 3 and Drums of Autumn would be Season 4.  I am not happy with this.  Why?  Because I read the books!  There is TONS of action and stuff going on in both books, that I see it impossible to do either book (nor Diana) justice by doing each book in one season.  This is especially true if they only get 13 episodes each!

I may be one of a few out there that are not blind and don’t use the over used excuse that it is an “adaptation” of the books.  I stand by my opinion. I was relatively happy with season 1 and most of season 2, until this past episode (Ep 8 The Fox’s Lair).  They have seemingly decided to just do what they want anyway and to hell with the original fan base.

It seems to me that they want to follow in the footsteps of Game of Thrones.  Really?? I mean, Outlander is supposed to be something different.  What is the problem with taking your time and slowing down a little.  Why do we have to rush through the books, because that is what it is looking like.  Season 2 seems rushed at times, hell we won’t see one of the battles in Scotland.  *sigh*

I don’t like to complain, but these books got me through some tough times and are the ONLY books I refuse to let go of.  They mean that much to me.   Don’t think I am totally not happy.  I am thrilled with the rest of you that Outlander is returning (we kind of knew it when Ron Moore hinted at working on stuff for S3).  It is just I feel they are getting themselves cornered as it is by changing a couple of things and this might make it worse. I don’t want the show to fail.  I want it to be as awesome as it can be.
